After High School
When Stephanie graduated high school she struggled with comparison because she felt like all of her friends knew what they were going to do, and she had no idea. She felt a lot of stress and anxiety about this decision.
Career Switching
Many people end up switching tasks because their ideas of what they think a career will be is often different than the way it actually looks.
Self-Awareness
Kids don’t have a lot of life experience to help them make these life decisions. In her coaching, they help them work through these questions. There is a lack of self-awareness. Picking a career path takes a lot of self-awareness.
Stephanie saw the need but it was when she went through the process of getting career coaching, she had an incredible experience. She says it boosted her confidence to see that she could contribute in a meaningful way. It can build confidence and self esteem in what people have to bring naturally.
The Coaching Process
They do a three step coaching process.
First, they work to understand your strengths and natural talents to understand what roles you would best fit in.
Second, they talk about personality tendencies. This helps people to find more satisfaction in their career.
Third, people often say follow your passion, and that is it: what are your career goals and what is most important to you?
At the end of the session, they put together this data along with preferred skills and give recommendations.
The assessments are taken electronically as individuals and then they go over the results in an hour-long session together.
They don’t narrow it down to what specific kind of entrepreneur they can be. It’s about creating awareness about what possible fields would be a good fit. They use a database that is constantly being changed with new job options.
Exploring Your Future Career
Stephanie recommends speaking with someone who is in the field they want to pursue and to interview that person. If they can, she says to get job exposure. There are internships and it is important to explore further the field they want to get into.
Young adults need to be honest with themselves about heir skills and interests and give themselves the opportunity to explore. Parents, support your kids in the roles they are looking to explore.
