Help your Kids Love Reading
Research shows that enjoyment of reading is a big factor.
Kim always loved books- her kids seemed to pick it up.
Share your love of books,
Started to teach 4th grade- had lots of struggling readers.
While getting her masters in reading, Kim put those lessons into practice in her classroom.
Example: sought words- she wondered how to teach them- read them in context- use books to teach
Example: Make it fun in the classroom
Foster a love of reading by :
Switching it up- Find other times in the day to read, not just in bed.
Try DEAR (drop everything and read)
Build tents or forts to read
Model reading
Let your kids read in different locations
Use flashlights to read books
